arduino dissapearing from the list of connected devices

ey!

It happened to me with several boards (mega 2560 - micro - adafruit flora) that sometimes they dissapear from the list of connected devices; both in arduino IDE and in Windows device manager.

Unconnecting and reconnecting them wouldnt solve the problem

Reseting them would enable temporarily the uploader (which appears to be a COM Port that is numbered different that the board itself), and if you upload a sketch in this precise moment, the board would reappear both in Arduino IDE, and Windows device manager.

Anyway, some of them continue to dissapear every now and then.

What is going on here?

Thanks!

Perhaps the usb 5V power is weak, or you use a bad cable, or the usb connector is dirty.
Try another cable and another usb connector. You might even try a powered usb hub.

thanks but no, it is not that. its certain specific boards

Perhaps a driver problem or there is an error in you harddisk ?
Can you try with another computer ?
