I am new to Arduino, and right away having problems after the download on my MAC 10.5.8 (4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM)
The programm starts. No screen appears and no error message.
What is wrong?

You seem to have posted other experiences, so have you made the Arduino IDE launch successfully?
I am having a similar issue with running 1.0.5 on my mac os x 10.5.8, the app tries to launch (bounces in dock) but fails, I am running J2SE 5.0 v 1.5.0_30-b03 32-bit (updated trying to resolve this issue). I tried 1.5.5, same issue
After a bit of frustration, I got the old 1.0.4 running. Yeah me! Is there any way to get the current arduino 1.0.5 version running?
I'm excited to start with arduino, but can't get the current IDE running
