Agree with Crossroads.
The more you get into these sorts of thing the more important they become.
Mine are all cheap Chinese but have never let me down at all and have resurrected a few boards after I dropped the ball a few times.
ICSP and a decent UART can be had fer less than $3 each and can save that much with one board.
Also useful for more than just Arduino work
