To have better luck with the "trick", go into File:Preferences and turn on Verbose outputs.
When the compiler shows "compiled xxx of 32xxx bytes", press Reset.
Or press & Hold reset, when you see the message then release Reset.
Makes it a lot easier to catch the timing.
