Arduino drivers installation and troubleshooting

i will start by saying that im not an expert in computers, neither in arduino, as well as electronics.. I just want to learn a bit..

I bought a couple of months ago an arduino duemilanove, and my windows 7 doesn't recognize it, neither anything opens when i plug it in. Also, the L led on the board is always blinking, wheter or not a sketch is uploaded... if you manage to find the drivers, please don't send me to FTDIchip, i don't even knw how to use that site, or how to navigate, what to search for.. its too omplicated for a mechanic... is there a straight link to a file i can download right away??

The blinking L led is I believe running under the "factory" program. Now familiar with your board in particular but I know the Uno and the Leonardo are shipped with the "blink' program installed. That LED is connected to digital pin 13. Blink is in the examples>basic folder I believe. It tells you the board is powerd and functioning
