Arduino Due 1.6.6 on Arm64 Ubuntu 20.04

Sorry there have been a couple of similar topics over the years, most recently:

I also used the method from the 2018 post, and I was able to compile sketches to my Due (from Ubuntu 20.04 on an Odroid C2), however I'm seeing odd behavior like hangs that I'm not used to seeing. I've done lots of development for the Due but pretty much exclusively using the 1.6.6 core (mostly on Windows, although I built an old Arm 32-bit Ubuntu setup that worked pretty well, since at the time the IDE was not available for Arm64). Anyway, I was hoping that someone could help me figure out how to install the 1.6.6 version on Arm64, in hopes that it will work better.

Thanks!
Richard
