Arduino Due Board and Arduino IDE

I recently purchased the Due board but I am having a problem.

After I open the IDE, I go to tools>boards to select the due board so I can upload my code. But for some reason the Due is not in that list.

I purchased my board from Arduino so I know that it is authentic which leads me to think that there is a problem with the IDE.

-Do I need to download a support package somewhere?
-or am is there another reason that I cannot find the Due board in the tools>board drop down menu?

Any suggestions?

I realize that all I had to do was update my IDE.
