Arduino Due won't execute successfully uploaded sketches

Hi all,
I recently acquired an arduino Due in order to use the ADC/DAC capabilities. However, I can't seem to get it to execute the simple 'Blink' sketch. I'm uploading the code via the Beta IDE( 1.5.8 ) with the selected board 'Arduino Due (Programming Port)' and the port that corresponds to this board. Additionally I am using a micro-USB-B cable to connect the board to my computer.

The code I'm trying to execute is:

CPU reset.

During the upload process the Rx/Tx led's flash as expected. However the 'L' led attached to pin 13 stays high after the upload.

I've tried a manual erase/reset process as described by the Arduino website but to no avail. I'm running out of troubleshooting ideas and am hoping someone on here can help.
