I'm glad to hear you at least have something working now. I agree that you should be able to get the Arduino Web Editor working. I suggested you try the standard IDE because that gives you some useful information for troubleshooting. You now know this problem is not caused by a hardware issue since you are able to successfully upload so you've narrowed down the potential causes significantly.
