Hard to offer much without and real details.
I have just bought two UNO boards and I can't get the Arduino Editor to find them. I'm using Windows 7 OS with a Dell E520. I have an Arduino UNO that has it written on the board and it works. I need to access the other two.

Quite often there is a clue or two in there to get you going.
The hardware specs for the old E520 seem quite low so not sure if any of that is holding you back.
Do you have other computers to try on ?
