I have ENC28J60 Ethernet Shield and it gets warm, about 40 degrees in my room at around 24-25 degrees. As i will have the project i am making outside i am concerned about how it will handle the temperatures at summer as it gets up to 30-40 degrees.
Any1 has any experiences with it at warmer weather?
I haven't used the ENC28J60, but I've set up an Arduino with a Wiznet shield in a metal box mounted to a telephone pole in the desert. The ambient temperature regularly peaked between 35 and 40 in the summer, with no sign of reliability problems.
If you're really worried, put a small heatsink on the chip to keep it closer to ambent.
I will put a small heatsink on it, as i can not have any larger heatsinks, since there is another shield on top of it and i cannot change positions with it.
