I just had my arduino delivered today and downloaded the environment. Running WIndows Vista.
When I run the .exe file my environment is all buggy.
Not getting proper menu functionality...sketchbook menu wont work at all.
Please help.

Most likely a Java issue. Renaming the Java folder that comes with the IDE usually solves the problem. You most likely have a new version of Java already installed.
agreed - likely java problem. If deleting the java folder doesn't work or is too daunting, this monstrosity will probably work - just try to ignore the duplicate tabs etc - use the ones on the left.
