Arduino ethernet not recognized

Hi
I have an arduino ethernet, connected with the serial to USB adapter, but when I plug it into my pc it isn't recognized. I tried with Linux, Windows and MAC OS X, but it is not working with anything. Do you have any hint or FAQ on this?

On the Linux version, do you see anything under "Tools - Serial Port"?

No, anything. The weird fact is also that dmesg seems not recognizing anything, as well as lsusb.

If none of the three operating systems sees the adapter, try the obvious things like different USB cable and different USB ports (or computers.)

If that's still not resulting in detection and enumeration of the adapter, there's something wrong with it.

Of course I already tried different cables, computers and USB ports. I also thought about some malfunction, but it seems strange to me since the adapter is quite new.
