I fixed a chinese clone ethernet shield that was not working good due to 511 resistor! I used the fix that is shown in this video Arduino ethernet shield W5100 problem - YouTube. I added two 47ohm resistors to the leg pins of the rj45 socket of the ethernet shield. After the fix everything works fine, but i realize that my power consumption arduino mega+ethernet shield from 0.17amps dropped down to 0.06amps. Anybody have any idea why? I 'm thinking to do it in an ethernet shield with the 510 resistor to see what i s going to happen, is it safe?
