Arduino Ethernet Shield Help

Hi, I just ordered a HanRun arduino ethernet shield, and I cannot get it to work :confused: I have connected everything properly, checked all the IP addresses, and spent hours trying to trouble shoot. When I put my arduinos IP into the web browser, it comes up with the message "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 192.168.1.177". PLEASE help. -ericd

Is this a w5100 ethernet shield? A link to the device might help.

HanRun is the model of Ethernet jack, not the shield. Have you modified the MAC address? Try something like byte mac={00,71,34,2D,6A,C5} and if that doesn't work, change some of the values to 2-digit bytes using 0-9 and A-F

What kind of router/modem do you have?

Sorry I have been busy with another ptoject, I use a linksys router, and I've tried plugging it in directly to my laptop
