Arduino+Firmata+processing message string

Hello, is it possible to send or receive string message with processing and firmata with arduino ? I want to use PS2 mouse on arduino and send value to processing (i also use fimata for control servos and several ir sensors).

Thanks a lot for your help.

Have you looked at http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Firmata?

There are two methods for sending messages to the Arduino, one that expects a reply and one that does not.

If you are expecting a reply, you need to define a callback, to be called when the Arduino generates a response, with the stringCallbackFunction signature.

Thanks for the answer, do you have a sample of processing code for receive message from arduino ? I did'nt found any example of code for do that with the firmata library for processing.

Thanks a lot for your help.

No, but the Firmata sketch that you have loaded on the Arduino is editable, if you need to add Serial.print statements, etc. to track what is happening on the Arduino side.

Ok, but the problem is that library firmata on processing use the serial port, i don't think that's it's possible in the same processing code to read serial port from firmata library and serial datas directly send by arduino to processing.

What do you think about that ?

Thanks a lot.

Fabrice.

The communication between the Processing application and the Arduino IS through the serial port. But, that doesn't preclude sending other data to the Arduino over the serial port (although there is nothing in the sketch to handle unusual data) or from the Arduino to the Processing application.

Hello, finally, i found this solution and it’s work well, it’s use a dedicated pin for communication with processing.
