Arduino for DC speed controller

Hello everyone

I am building a tracked tank and i have 2 speed controller with a potentiometer with build in switch and one small on/off/on switch for direction control and was wondering if it is possible to have an arduino control the direction and speed through the speed controller (read replace the small switch and potentiometer) and use to small joysticks x/y/J instead so that I would get the real tank steering felling
