Arduino forum acting extreeeeeemly sloooooooooooow

Today, getting into this forum was quite difficult. It comes on veeeery sloooowly. Most often so slow that I get network timeout. After several tries I finally got in, but going from page to page is so slow that I got timeouts, even during that operation. Same occurance when trying to read Q's and A's. Maybe I'm not supposed to be in here, anymore.

By the way, has anybody tried using SparkFun's OpenLog device? If so, how successful were you? Have you been able to attach it to an ardino and get it to accept data via the arduino? Sure it works fine when its attached to a terminal PC program, such as hyperterminal, but its useless as a data logger in that mode. It needs to be taken out into the world where it can collect and store data, not sit inside attached to a PC so that one can enter nasty words to it from a keyboard.

The implication is that it was made to connect directly to an arduino-pro, which contains a sketch that will send data to the OpenLog, supposedly a simple Serial.print sketch.

Oh well, but not for me. :-[

sláinte

I keep getting this:
Gateway Time-out
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
>:(

Yes. you're right. something is slow.
It seems that this new template is not appreciated so much. :-/

At the moment we are trying to overcome this.

Love the new look. But the slowdowns earlier have caused a few people to have multiple threads with the same topic.

Yea, slow is right!! This morning I typed up a LONG post to ask a question, when I clicked Post, it timed out and lost everything. Oh well - I'm sure they're doing the best they can.

Tonight it's FAST.

Seeming better now.. Hopefully it'll stay that way ;D!

You need to remember to copy your messages before posting. Losing a long question, or reply has happened to me too many times.

PO'T

Yeah, whenever I'm typing a long message, I periodically Cntrl+A and then Cntrl+C.

That way I'm not completely lost if Firefox crashes or something.

I chrome if you get the 504 you can click back to go to the post page and get the feild back with the content you put in it, but I prefer to just press F5 on the 504 page a while later and resubmit the form, works for me

Also (just remembered this) there should be some sort of decent error page with a brief explanation of the problem, even if it is just a small redirect to the Wiki entry for Arduino, then when it is up a banner saying that it is intermitant (where helpful).... it would be helpful so I know my internet isn't on the blink.

I think I added this to the appropriate Google group page as an official sujestion too...
