Arduino goes to 'Other Devices' or 'Iibusb-Win32' not Comm Port

Hi guys,
I've been going crazy trying to get my Uno and Trinket to be seen on a Comm Port. Windows 10 just wants to keep sending them to 'Other Devices' or 'Iibusb-Win32' and not a Comm Port. Consequently I can't see either in IDE.
The Adafruit Pro Trinket shows up as the USBtiny and the UNO as USB2.0-Ser!
Any help appreciated
Thanks

That may well indicate that either the board cores were not installed or drivers or both.

The trinket page has further instructions.

If the UNO is a clone then you bypassed a very important page on the way in.

Could you also take a few moments to Learn How To Use The Forum.

There is no driver called "CH340". This controls the USB port on the Mega, Uno and others.
Search for it using the search engine and install it.

That definitely does not apply to the ProTrinket which has native USB.

You might be right for the Uno, though the device manager's image seems to look different from te one for a missing Ch340.

Well, I managed to get it working after trying all sorts of driver updates and weird stuff. In the end I went back to IDE 1.8.6 and that did the job. Absolutely no idea why but I don’t care as long as it works. Thanks for the suggestions.
