Are there any sites selling kits with all the hardware for an arduino clone but without the pcb? It does not have to be for an exact duemilanove but enough to build a clone that is shield compatible.
It's the arrangement of headers on the PCB that makes a clone shield-compatible. The ATMega chip, crystal, capacitors, etc. are readily available. The FTDI chip is not, because it is a difficult chip to solder by hand.
Are you planning on making your own double-sided PCB?
Hey Paul,
Last time I checked mouser and digikey, neither of them have atmega 328. Where did you see them in stock? I'd like to stock up. Thanks.

Actually if you can wait about 3 weeks, I think you will find it much easier to get them. Almost all big houses, mouser, digikey and so on, are receiving large restocks , 10s of thousands, the first or second week of November.
