I am making a research to find out, to what extent does the temperature of a ball affects it's rebound. I wanted to use an arduino sensor to find out a sensor that could tell me the height of the rebounds. Any ideas?
One option could be ultrasonic distance measuring. Mount the US sensor above your test rig and measure the distances to the ball.
This is easy to implement IMO.
I am sure there are other ways that someone else will suggest.
Ultrasonic has too long of a cycle time for your project. Google for microwave distance sensor.
