Arduino IDE 0022 won't open?!

Hi, I just recieved my first Arduino UNO today, so I started it up, downloaded the latest IDE (0022) and updated the drivers. Okay, so I went to open up The IDE and it won't open, the logo for it will suddenly pop up and then it will just go away, and nothing will happen. By the way, I'm using Windows XP 32-bit. Please help me, I've already gotten way too frustrated with this. Oh and one more thing, I heard that IDE 0022 doesn't have a run.bat file,so what are my options?

what are my options?

uninstall/reboot/reinstall.

I tried that, with both the Arduino and the Arduino IDE, but I've still got the same problem. Any other options?

Would it be okay to just uninstall IDE 0022 and download an older version like 0021 or 0020 so that I'll be able to use the run.bat file? I really need help, I haven't even gotten to try the simple blinking LED project.

Most of the time these problems occur due to file copying errors in either downloading or unzipping the software. I suggest you try throwing all the previous tries away, download the IDE and unzip it again.

Otherwise, I can't seem to find anything in the release notes that might cause your problem. On the other hand, I can't seem to find any requirements the IDE program has...

so that I'll be able to use the run.bat file?

What is your "run.bat" file? I've downloaded the 0018 and 0021 IDEs and never had to use such a file?

Me neither. I just copy/drag a shortcut of arduino.exe to my desktop and launch the IDE from there.

Lefty

Im still using 0018, i have tried 0021 & 0022 and everything i have writen in 0018 specifically SPI related failed, so 0018's working for me and i'll keep on using it

Ahh don't worry now, I've fixed it (Thanks to Gido). But I still thank you all for your advice. All I had to do was delete the corrupted copies and download IDE again, and then extract the files.
