Where would I find the information on the differences between 1.0 and 1.01?
and an opinion as to whether there is any downside to upgrading?

I uploaded it earlier today, had windows install the driver for an Uno R3 from the 'drivers' folder, uploaded a couple simple sketches, no problems.
Had read the release notes earlier, sounded good to me. Mainly I wanted to use it for Leonardo & a 32U4 board I am working on.
Well I got it the other day myself and I have seen several people complain so I wondered. Through out the years I have noticed that a sure way to make more work for your self is to "Fix" something that "isn't broken" that unfortunately applies to 'upgrades' to, sometimes even more so to upgrades. IMO.

I reviewed the release notes and it didn't seem that there is much different here, which I guess makes sense for a .01 upgrade. I have not yet bothered to install it.
I re-read them myself just now and the compilation changes are interesting to me, I may give at a try real soon.

After upgrading from 1.0 to 1.0.1 a sketch compiled for a ATMega8P driven clock was bigger and would no longer fit in it's memory. Have to keep 1.0 to tweak the clock code and compile it.
