I have installed the latest windows version of Arduino IDE non my windows 7 PC. All of the drivers are up to date and working. I have the Arduino UNO attached (have also tried opening it not attached) and when I click on the IDE it does nothing. I have tried every web-based fix I could come across and still nothing. I am very frustrated, this is ridiculous. Can someone please help?
I've seen instances of defective shortcuts. Have you tried opening the .exe file from it's directory?
Yeah ive tried launching the .exe from every place it installed....uninstalling, re installing. i'm so excited about this toy, i can't wait to play with it....but this is just blowing my mind how unresponsive the program is being!
I installed directly from the website onto a Windows 7 Enterprise machine and the IDE runs but I'm having other serial issues. My XP machine runs and loads just fine. Win 7 has some strangeness about it. Have you googled arduino and win 7? lots of stuff out there. I'm not much further along than you, I feel your pain. Good luck and please post the fix!
well i bought my board from Robotmesh.com so i will be calling them in the morning....i don't use XP...its my understanding that windows will no longer provide updates for XP in another 18 months or so. So if i cannot get it to work on 7 then %&@# it! I am beginning to get very aggravated at this point. I would imagine that most people buying these boards are running 7. WTF
but see the funny thing is, everywhere i go (even on this site) it say's that windows will not be able to recognize my arduino device and i will have to manually install the drivers. Except My windows 7 machine did recognize the device and the drivers did install correctly. When i go through the process everyone tells me too with device manager and yata yata yata, it says drivers already up to date, they installed just fine. but the stupid IDE just won't open. I guess I'll have to get a BeagleBone.

"Installed" as in ran the Windows installer? Or as in unzipped?
r u serious......go to the download link...... you see this:
Download
Arduino 1.0.5 (release notes), hosted by Google Code:
+Windows Installer, Windows (ZIP file) -------- I haved downloaded, unzipped, installed, tried to open and became overly frustrated with the fact
+Mac OS X that nothing I try works
+Linux: 32 bit, 64 bit
+source
guess i could boot into debian and try....but it would be a shame to do that every time I wanted to use the board....also my wireless nic card refuses to work with any linux distro I have
UPDATE.......tried it on my 'Intel' laptop and it worked!.....my desktop however, runs AMD eight core processor with a solid state boot drive....i built it myself, it runs flawless. Never had any software or hardware compatibility issues......until now :0.....o well, maybe someone smarter than me can shed some light.

It is a simple question based on the fact that you did not indicate how you got the software onto your computer. For some folks that has made a difference. So the answer to your smart-ass'd question is "yes, I am serious."
I assume from your response that you have no intention of taking my questions seriously so I will spend my time elsewhere.
okay baby boy don't cry on me now
