This is just a wild-eyed conspiracy theory, but I just installed Arduino Pro, and it works just fine.
Could it be that Arduino LLC is softening us up for the arrival of ransomware paid subscriptions?
Let's see how long it takes for "them" (whom we have no idea who "they" are) to fix this product killing problem. They must realize by now that all Arduino boards are unusable by the previously intended audience, hobbyists (ie you and me.)
ps, this is posted in barsport on purpose, the main reason being that I don't believe a word of it.
