My sketches work fine on my desktop (Win 7) but will not verify on my laptop (Centrino duo & Vista Home Premium). Any suggestions, please.
Which version of the Arduino IED do you use, try the 18.4 version.
Mikael
Thanks, but already using 1.8.4
Roger.
Post the error message.
Last time I tried to run the IDE under VISTA I had to revert back to 1.5.6 r5.
I could not get 1.8.3 or 1.8.4 to work properly.
Vista has been obsolete for some time and the IDE has moved at quite a pace.
Depending on the hardware it may be worth upgrading to win 7 or reverting the IDE.

It should absolutely be possible to make the recent versions of the IDE work on Vista, though vista can demonstrate some incredibly perverse behavior due to bugs (or what appear to be bugs) in vista's implementation of UAC (I've definitely seen cant-happen situations happen with UAC file and registry virtualization).
I agree that is "should" be possible but wonder if there is some hardware requirements ?
Test box was a P4 3.0 with hyperthreading 4 gig ram and an AGP 256 mb graphics card.
Bit lowly I agree but plenty for vista.
Its the lowest spec I currently have as a test bed.
They hardware should be fine, I've run it on worse.
Sorry for lack of information :- "exit status 1
error compiling for board Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560."
My board is Iduino Mega 2560.
Computer Processor T2250 @ 1.73GHz
Memory 2.99GB
What version of Arduino AVR Board Package (from board manager)? The normal cause of that problem should be fixed in the latest versions...
