Arduino IDE running on a Raspberry Pi 4 Problems

I'm getting the following error after setting up the version of Arduino IDE on my Raspberry Pi 4 with an MKR ZERO board. Won't upload sketch.

fork/exec /home/pi/.arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/arm-none-eabi-gcc/7-2017q4/bin/arm-none-eabi-g++: no such file or directory
Error compiling for board Arduino MKRZERO.

Thanks, in advance, for help.

This error can be caused by something going wrong during a Boards Manager installation of the "Arduino SAMD (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+) Boards" platform. That can often be fixed by manually removing and then re-installing it via Boards Manager:

Be aware this will remove any boards you have installed via Boards Manager. They are easy enough to reinstall again though.

  1. Select File > Preferences from the Arduino IDE's menus.
  2. Click the link on the line following "More preferences can be edited directly in the file". This will open the Arduino15 (or similar name depending on your operating system) folder.
  3. Delete all files and folders under the this folder, except for the preferences.txt file:
    /home/pi/.arduino15/

    Please be very careful when deleting things from your computer. When in doubt, back up!

Now you will need to re-install the "Arduino SAMD (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+) Boards" platform:

  1. Select Tools > Board > Boards Manager from the Arduino IDE's menus.
  2. Wait for the update to finish.
  3. Scroll down through the list of platforms until you see "Arduino SAMD (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+) Boards by Arduino". Click on it.
  4. Click the Install button.
  5. Wait for the installation to finish.
  6. Click the Close button.

Now try uploading your sketch again.

I updated as you suggested and then received the following error:

Arduino: 1.8.19 (Linux), Board: "Arduino MKR WiFi 1010"

/home/pi/Arduino/libraries/DigitalPressureSensor/src/DpsClass.cpp: In member function 'void DpsClass::begin(arduino::SPIClass&, int32_t, uint8_t)':
/home/pi/Arduino/libraries/DigitalPressureSensor/src/DpsClass.cpp:62:12: error: 'arduino::SPIClass {aka class arduino::HardwareSPI}' has no member named 'setDataMode'
m_spibus->setDataMode(SPI_MODE3);
^~~~~~~~~~~
exit status 1
Error compiling for board Arduino MKR WiFi 1010.

I'm wondering if there is something the PI version of the Dsp310 library does not like. I've uploaded this sketch from my laptop and it compiles fine.

Again thanks for all help. PHP

This was caused by a change made to the SPI library of the "Arduino SAMD (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+) Boards" platform in the recent 1.8.12 release:

Unfortunately, this was a breaking change for some libraries, including even some of the official ones:

I can see that it also broke the "DigitalPressureSensor" library you are using, so an adjustment similar to the ones made in the links above will be necessary to make it work with Arduino SAMD Boards 1.8.12

The difference in results between your two computers is most likely caused by one of two differences:

You have a previous version of the "Arduino SAMD Boards" platform installed on your laptop.

You can check this in the Arduino IDE Boards Manager (Tools > Board > Boards Manager).

You have a version of the library installed on the laptop which is not affected by the bug.

If you enable verbose compilation output in the IDE preferences (File > Preferences), compile the sketch, and then examine the contents of the black console pane at the bottom of the IDE window, you will see a list of libraries used and their versions.
