Arduino IDE takes 10 minutes to start

Hello,
I'm using Windows 8.1 and installed Arduino IDE 1.6.8. When I go to start the program, it hangs on "starting" for 10 minutes. Once started, it can take several minutes to compile a sketch. I searched for possible problems and solutions. The only thing I found was reference to a conflict with a logitech driver. I have a logitech bluetooth mouse but I get the same problem with the mouse disconnected. As well, I had this same setup before Christmas (same computer type, same software, same mouse) and the IDE worked fine.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the IDE but that didn't make any difference.

Any help is appreciated.

OK, I fixed this. I've had the problem for a few days and figured out the solution just after posting the above. The default path for saving arduino files was on a shared network drive. I moved this to a local folder and now the Arduino IDE starts normally.
