arduino IDE will not open

When I try to open either version 0011 or 0012 now I get a messsage

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.

My guesses of possible causes.

  1. Arduino 0012 did something screwy (I had it working earlier though)
  2. I was trying to connect my ti 89 to my computer, and installed software like ti connect, ti graph link ect. I have since removed that software because of possible conflicts with arduino.

I can however start either version 0011 and 0012 via their run.bat.

Any ideas/solutions :-/

use run.bat, that is what it is there for.

I am fine with making do, but I would prefer to find out what happened, so I don't have to have the command line up at the same time. Its just a minor annoyance I'd like to fix.

Thank you for the input.

Is it Windows? Are you trying to launch by clicking a PDE file?

sorry, yes it is windows xp. I am trying to launch by clicking on the arduino icon. That doesn't work so I have to click on the run MS_DOS Batch File, which brings up the IDE and the command line.
