Arduino IDE will not start

Hi.

This might be a simple problem to solve, but for me is totally stopping.

I have my MacPro and UNO in front of me. They are connected via USB. I have the IDE downloaded and unpacked the Arduino software for Mac OS X. I simply follow the instructions fom "Getting Started". The problem is the software will not start!! I have previously done this on both my Win7-laptop and my RaspberryPI without any problems.

Is there something on Mac that I should know in order to get this working?

The Arduino IDE is a Java program. Perhaps there is something wrong with your installation of Java. Might be time to look for an update.

Are you getting error message, If yes paste the sanp shot of it

On Mac OS X you can see some error messages by running the "Console" app.

I installed version 1.0.4 and it started OK.

It seems like there is something fishy with version 1.0.5 since I have experienced problem with this version on Windows 7 also.

So i currently use version 1.0.4 on both Windows 7 and OS X 10.5.8!

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) was released in late 2007 so it is over 6 years old and four major revisions back. It is not surprising that the Java it runs is not capable of supporting the latest Arduino IDE.
