Arduino is not appearing in ports when connected to USB

Hi Experts,

When I connect Arduino in USP its not appearing in ports. I use laptop. please guid me how to solve this issue.

Drivers not installed or board defective.

What operating system?

Is it an official board or a clone? Many of the clones use a ch340g serial chip (check markings on the ic neat the USB port), that requires different drivers (Google will find them)
