I haven't done anything with Arduino yet, but it has stimulated my imagination. When I was a kid did quite a bit of hobby-electronics and recently I've been wanting to re-learn about electronics after 30 years of doing nothing more than occasionally re-soldering some bad connectors. So I was really happy to see an interesting Kickstarter project for an Arduino learning kit... it struck me as just what I needed to get going. Unfortunately there are only a few days left and the project it only half funded.
Please take a look at it and spread the word if you like it. Search for "Arduino learning" on Kickstarter.
Maybe a better option would be to produce a mounting board on its own like the small laser cut ones you can get now, but larger with extra mounting holes for pots, LCD and other addons.
Or you could have a central board with interlocking tabs to add extra mounting boards to.
Anyone good with CAD?
Damn, here`s me giving away good ideas, is there a KickstarterUk yet?

You shouldn't wait for this kit at all. I suggest the following:
