Arduino linked, but upload fails

Hi,

I have an Arduino UNO compatible board connected to COM10 USB port with the 1.8.8 IDE under Windows 7. The green power LED is lit, the yellow one blinks, I can Get Board Info (BN: Arduino/Genuino Uno), but when I try to upload the Fade example sketch, it fails:

Arduino: 1.8.8 (Windows 7), Board: "Arduino Pro or Pro Mini, ATmega328P (5V, 16 MHz)"

Problem uploading to board. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

Following this link, I tried to update my driver, pointing to the Arduino driver directory, but Windows tells me the most appropriate pilot is already installed (from Arduino LLC).

You say you have an Uno. You’ve selected Pro Mini as the board. Since they use different bootloaders at different baud rates, it is expected to get a message like that if you have the wrong board selected.

Select Uno from tools → board and it should work.

Yes, it works. Somehow, I had assumed that getting the board info would set the board type.

Thanks!
