Arduino Mac Network Preferences

Hi there, I have never used an Arduino board so I am a relative novice! I have plugged my board in to my mac and I get a pop-up window explaining that a new network interface has been detected but has not been set up. Am I required to set up any network settings for it? I have clicked cancel and run the software to make sure the board is communicating fine and this seems to be the case.

Not sure what your problem is. Macs do that even since Snow Leopard. Configure it for some communication if you want, it will not make any difference. It is in case you want to use the device to connect to the internet, which you don't.
