Arduino Mega 2560 Bluetooth Not Receiving from PC but Will Transmit to PC

Hello,

New to working with arduino and am working on a group design project for engineering school. The issue we are encountering is that are Bluetooth chip (HC-06) will send messages back to a pc but doesn't seem to be receiving commands when they are sent. PC device manager shows this is using 2 ports (one for tx and the other for rx) is this normal? For the time being, we are simply trying to set a pwm signal to flash an LED to show that we are communicating. Any thoughts or ideas would really help. Thanks.

Is the USB cable disconnected?

Yes, usb is disconnected

achesser: PC device manager shows this is using 2 ports (one for tx and the other for rx) is this normal?

I think it is common but not necessarily universal, and depends on how bluetooth is managed. There are other posts on this matter.

Your problem could be in the code, which is apparently a secret, and perhaps a simple on/off signal might be a little more appropriate.

You might find the following background notes useful

Issue fixed, sorry for not posting the code as its not really a secret. Checked out the background notes you sent and we were able to get it working. Had to switch the pins being used as apparently a couple on the board are bad. Thanks for the help
