Arduino Mega 2560 / Ubuntu 11.10 USB problems

Hi,

I am new to Arduino.

I followed the tutorial for Ubuntu, installed all the latest drivers. Running Ubuntu 3.0.0-14-generic, 64 Bit. (11.10)

The Arduino Mega is not detected everytime I connect the board, once every 10 times. When detected, the ttyACM0 is assigned, and I can link ACM0 to ttyS4, which is one of two options in the connection serial ports for Arduino, build 22. After this point, it works for a while and suddenly, it gets disconnected. I am very frustrated with this setup.

Any help would be appreciated.
