I use Arduino mega + ramps 1.4 Shield to control my 3d printer. for some reason the arduino got fried. would you please help me know which component got fried? what is its name? (see the picture)

Your picture is too large, being some 3K x 4K pixels, so i won't show it here for everyone to see (and so need to download it), remember that not the entire world has great internet connections.

Your picture shows a damaged five pin component, that's your first hint.
There's not a lot of those in the schematics.
So it's probably the lp2985-33dbvr, which actually IS a regulator, but for 3.3 volts.
I followed the traces in your picture to have some sort of confirmation so i can post this post with confidence.
The output going to a capacitor and next to pin 6 of an 8 pin device did the trick for me.
Before replacing the component, find and correct your mistake, or the new one will blow again.
