Arduino Mega standalone

I'm looking for a tutorial to build an Arduino Mega standalone. I've only found for Duemillanove and similar:
For example: http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Standalone

Or this:

Please, help me!! Thanks!!!

The main problem with what you want is the Atmega1280 package- a 100 pin TQFP or BGA package - both surface mount with very dense pin spacing. I suppose somebody makes a break-out board for it but really it's just much more practical to either make your own PWB or just buy a Mega.

Unless you have superhuman soldering skills it's practically impossible to do it from the 1280 chip alone. However there are tiny breakout boards available. The cheapest one I've seen cost around 18 us$ (though I can't remember where I saw that).

Try to look for something like this:

www.active-robots.com/products/controllr/atmega128-details.shtml

or this:

www.siphec.com/item/ATm128-TB1.2.html

Or you can buy the Seeeduino MEGA. I am running a limited time promotion for $39.50 + S&H (http://www.nkcelectronics.com/seeeduino-mega-fully-assembled.html)

Ah..while organizing my bookmarks I found the link to where I saw the prices of breakout boards. I was wrong..the prices are in £ not in $. £18.95 for a 100 pin breakout board with the 1280 chip. But they also sell the board without the chips..
