I'm trying to use the Arduino Mega 2560 to be the brains for a 3D printer using the RAMPS1.4 shield(Probably not part of the problem so don't stop reading, just thought I'd mention it just in case). I'm using Windows 7 64bit and downloaded Sprinter(the program for the 3D printing) from reprap. The issue I'm having is that whenever I try to upload the program I get the following error.
avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
If I try to reset before it uploads I get the same thing.
If I try to reset while it uploads I get a variety of errors seemingly dependent on how soon after it starts I reset it.
For example: avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x4b or : avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x6a
I've checked and double checked the drivers and COM port(it's on COM3) and, by shorting Reset and GND and shorting pins 0 and 1(from another forum with a slightly different issue), I was able to get a feedback loop.
Another possible symptom is that the L led is always lit, but blinks off when I reset.
I'm very new to this stuff and so don't really know what to expect or what's an issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.
