Arduino Micro Board Voltage Supply

Hi,

Just curious, I have a 9DOF IMU sensor stick bought from Sparkfun (SEN 10724) that runs on 3.3V and a LIDAR-Lite Laser Ranging Module that runs on 5V..

I am aware that the Arduino Micro board has a 5V pin and a 3V pin, so.. the question is, am I able to connect both the IMU and the LIDAR-Lite together in the same circuit connection but each connected to their respective voltage pin?

Also, both sensors are communicating to Arduino Micro by I2C.

You can power stuff off the 3V3 pin but only if it takes under 50mA.

That is a problem. You will need a level shifter between the Arduino's I2C lines and the 9DOF IMU sensor. If you did not have the 5V I2C device on the same bus there would be other solutions but this one needs a level shifter.
