Arduino Nano cannot be programmed

Hi,

I try to program an Arduino Nano clone: the chip is the CH340G.

I have installed the windows driver prior connecting the Nano and prior opening the Arduino IDE.

In the Arduino IDE (version 1.8.6 on W10 64 bits) I have selected "Arduino Nano" in the list of cards, and the Port COM5 as it appears to be the right one.

The Nano has 2 Leds: one is permanently ON and the second one is flashing.

When I try to upload my program, it seems that the Nano is not responding, because I get the following error:

avrdude done. Thank you.

Can you help me ?

There is no exclamation mark in the Device Manager, although I do not see any CH340 device, maybe it is normal, maybe I have not look in the appropriate section.

Thank you

Under Tools -> Board, select nano (you did that). Next under Tools -> Processor, select the old bootloader option.

Next under Tools -> Processor, select the old bootloader option

Thank you VERY MUCH !!

It solved my problem immediately: I apologize, but I had never read that I should select this option...

Thanks again,

In the beginning of the 2018 Arduino started shipping their Nanos with a new boot loader. You needed an update of board manager to 1.6.21 which offered both the old and the new boot loader; your IDE version comes with 1.6.21 (or maybe even 1.6.22).

The old boot loader is for older original nanos and clones (I doubt they will ever update); the new boot loader is for the new Arduinos.
