Arduino Nano v3.2: Serial speed 24 times slower than Leonardo

Hi guys,
I have a big problem and I need a solution really fast since I have to present my project on thursday!! :frowning:

I have to send a lot of serial data to the PC via USB and I used a Leonardo for that. Now I had to replace it with a Nano (v3.2) and it is far too slow, although both boards should be similarly fast.

1.) The calculating speed is the same. Both computed some arithmetic program with the same amount of time (volatile result with result++ in a big loop).

2.) The Serial.print command is the problem. Minimal working example I uploaded to Leonardo and Nano:

The Nano is approx. 24 times slower!!

What is also strange: The name "nano" doesnt show up in the COM-Port list (neither in the Arduino IDE nor in the Device Manager), but if I select a certain COM-port that I know the Nano uses, I can use it to upload code and use the serial monitor. I also tried to set the latency control of that port to 1ms as suggested here Reducing Arduino/FTDI FT232R Serial Latency – Lincomatic's DIY Blog and I updated the Arduino IDE and installed the newest FTDI drivers. Both Arduinos are not connected to anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

610 characters at 115200 bits per second (10 bits per character) should take 0.052951 seconds: 52.951 milliseconds: 52951 microseconds. That is close to the value you get from the Nano which use a real serial port.

The Leonardo, which is using native USB, is much faster because USB is faster than Serial, regardless of the 'baud rate' selected.

If you want a small-format Arduino with native USB (like a Leonardo) use the Arduino Micro.
