Arduino nano V3

Hello,

This is my first post. I am sauwe and have bought a arduino nano v3. I want to set it up as a usb keyboard, but have some problems installing it. My first question is if i program the arduino as a usb keyboard, can i use it on every pc? Second do i need to install a usb on the board?

Nano V3 has FTDI FT232RL for Slave USB serial interface.
Most USB keyboard projects use Arduino with Atmega16U2 as USB interface, it can be programmed to be an HID to support a keyboard.
Google HID Keyboard for some more info.

You need an arduino board that has a USB-capable chip on it

The nano V3 does not, thus, you cannot make it act like a keyboard.

Official Uno/Mega has the 16u2 for serial which can be repurposed for that (warning - some clones don’t)
Micro/Leonardo has the 32u4 as the MCU, which supports usb directly.

I bought a micro 32u4, and programmed it so when i push a button it writes an 'a'. But when i plug the arduino micro in my brothers computer there is no 'a' when i push the button? How is this possible?
