Arduino NAno with Ch430 VS FTDI Chips and communcating with Arduino IDE

Is there any know issues of Adruino IDE communicating with Nano's with the CH430 USB to serial chip vs the FTDI chip?

I am having some issues and wonder if it is the CH430 causing my issues. The nano is on a GRBL cnc board. I can't communicate from the ide but I can with Hype Terminal, kinda strange!

Thanks,
Kevin

I have no trouble with ch340g based boards - I use them almost exclusively due to the low cost and durability, and my.inability to tell (before the seller has my money) if a supposed ft232rl board has real or non-working counterfeit chip.

How are you attempting to communicate? Does uploading sketches work?
