I bought an Arduino Nano and soldered the pins on it, at least visually it seems that the solders are ok, nothing is shorted. When I try uploading code to it, I get different errors every try and since I cant upload code to it, it is empty, yet the TX light is constantly on. I think its probably the cable I am using, since it is a cable from an external CD reader but I want to check here first. The errors I get are all avrdude errors that randomly interchange.

Check that the USB cable that you have is a data cable and not just a charger cable with no data connections

What have you got the Processor type set to in the IDE Tools/Processor menu ? Try changing it to the Old Bootloader option
I just changed to the old bootloader and nothing changed, I doubt the cable is charge only since its from a cd reader but do you have any way that I can check if it is for charging only? I obviously cant check with my phone and aside from the cd reader I dont have any devices that use this type of cable.
Post a image of nano and wires....
if you meant that you use that cable to connect the CD reader to your PC to listen to the CDs on the computer without any other power or cable, then it's definitely a data + power cable
In that case, im guessing the cable isnt the problem.
I have no clue what happened, as I was taking the photos of the board to send here I decided I was going to try uploading it a few more times. At first it just said "Error uploading" and after 2 tries it uploaded like nothing ever happened... Regardless thanks to anyone who has tried to help.
To be sure try another cable that is known good. When soldering pins on a board I would suggest you connect it first and see if it works, that will eliminate board and loader problems. Do not solder the pins until you get it working at this point. If you have another board without pins soldered on try that.
