Arduino nano won't work on xp laptop

Hi guys,

I've been playing with arduino successfully for a few weeks now using an uno, I've decided to get a nano for my next project but I'm having an issue.

I bought a nano and tried connecting it with a lead I had all I got was the noise from the laptop suggesting it wasn't recognised and nothing showed up in the comms port, I wasn't prompted to install a driver either,

I thought this may be an issue with the nano (not genuine) or the lead so I bought another with a lead and I'm having the same issue.
Also I can now only get one of my UNOs to work.
http://www.mikrocontroller.net/attachment/114256/switec_X15.xxx.02.SP.E.pdf ide 1.0.6 (I had the comms error with the newer version)
Uno clone, working
Uno genuine, not working
Nano clone, not working x2

My genuine uno seemed to stop working when I plugged in my second uno and was prompted to install the driver, I have since wiped the old arduino install and started again with the 1.0.6

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks Martin.

The nano clones require you to install a driver:

If you're using Mac Sierra then you might not be able to use the driver from the site(at least the last I heard it wasn't compatible and an alternate one was needed).
