Arduino nonresponsive; three low beeps on USB strt

Hello! I've got an Arduino I've happily fiddled with for over 6 mos, never observably having fried anything. Today I plugged it into my windows laptop and waited to hear the rising arpeggio (buh-duh-duh! y'know..) that indicates the USB hardware is recognized. Instead, I heard three of one low pitch in the same rhythm (as the success sound), and no acknowledgment of anything being plugged in. Needless to say I can't upload a thing. The Arduino still successfully executes the last sketch I uploaded though.

Tips? Thanks!

The sound you heard indicates the hardware you plugged in couldn't be identified. Have a look in the device manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation points there. The drivers for the arduino may have gotten corrupted. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the IDE. Have you updated to 18 yet?
