Arduino noob needs a big hand.

Hi all. First post ever, so here goes.

I need guidance for an Arduino project I'd like to attempt. I've seen broadly similar projects done, so this one shouldn't be too much of an effort for the experienced folk here.

I'm trying to get a Micronta EMD-1 Electronic Sign Board (Radio Shack Cat. No. 63-950) to be a weather forecast, weather warning, national, & world news ticker.

Pic of the unit here.

It has a 60x7 display area and (according to previous Googling) it has a Z80 processor under the hood.

As far as the Arduino used, it definitely needs the wi-fi shield, as I do not keep my computer on full time.

For power, I just plan on using a USB cable to one of the many USB wall plug adapters I have sitting around.

Now here's where you folks come in: I need a lot of help figuring how to run the wires, program the Arduino, etc. Yes, this is my first ever project.

Lastly, & if need be, I can crack open the EMD-1 & hopefully snap some good pictures of the guts for the experts who show interest.
