Arduino Not Functioning When Unplugged From USB

My Arduino Uno does not continue to run a program when unplugged from the USB of my computer. Even when running something simple like the blink program, the arduino immediately powers off after being unplugged

How are you providing power when you remove USB?

Is this a follow up of Keeping The Adruino Independently Powered ?

Did you disconnect the motors and any other stuff? As already asked, how did you power the Arduino?

The same happens when you unplug your usb drive or usb stick from a computer. The usb drive or usb stick will no longer function. Same reason.

For the UNO, if you want it to stay operating after you unplug the USB from the computer, then you need to power it using say the DC jack.... eg, buy a 9 Volt or 12 Volt regulated DC jack power supply, and the UNO will stay in action.
