Arduino not lighting up when theres motor driver shield l293d

basically im just trying to build something and when I try to plug my usb to my ports the Arduino board doesn't light up and I can't upload the code

Hi,
Do you have anything connected to the shield?

Can you please post some images of the Arduino with the shield plugged in?

If you are using an Arduino UNO check that the metal case of the USB socket on the UNO is not shorting on the shield that is plugged in above it.

If it is, use a couple of layers of insulating tape over the metal case to isolate it from the shield.

Hey Tom!
Thanks for replying,
Here's a picture of my Arduinl with shield plugged in.

Hi,
Does the shield touch the USB socket on the UNO?

Does your code upload with the shield unplugged?

Thanks.. Tom.... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

What are you using for power? You need to power that card externally. If you're drawing power from the Arduino, thats the problem.

Hey, So I tried to put some tape on the metal case and... nope still doesn't light up. And no i uploaded the code with the shield plugged but long ago before this I ever tried to upload the code without the shield on and it says this :
